Boatyard 7 Charity Match – Sunday 12th November 2017

this weeks winner MARK HARMER
Mark Harmer in excellent form recording his second win of the winter
The winning catch of 14lb 4oz

Although Sunday dawned sunny and almost windless the 21 anglers who decided to venture out for this weeks match soon had strong winds with rain and hail to contend with as the forecast horrible weather came to bear on NR12. However it was all change for the basins this week with the Gate Basin THE place to draw. Mark Harmer continued his run of results with 14lb 4oz form halfway up the rt side of the Gate. His winning bag included a skimmer of 1lb 13oz  which was his first bite, and a roach of 1lb 4oz! He must have thought it was Christmas already. about a third of the way up the left side of the Gate Mark Seaman and Roger Farmer had a peg to peg battle  with Roger just edging it with 11lb 2oz for 2nd to Mark Seaman’s level 11lb for 3rd. Lowest weight on the Gate this week was 6lb 12oz but elsewhere things were not so interesting. John Higginson topped the 6 anglers on the Crane with 6lb 1oz but the real graveyard was the Big Basin. Now remember last week everyone caught in the big basin LOWEST weight was 1lb 12oz. This week only 3 out of eight weighed in. Denny Hammond , last weeks winner, had 1oz. Tony Wilkinson  (2nd Jetty) had a whole 2lb7oz and new member, Matt Jefferys, had one fish for 1lb 1oz and won his section! Apparently there were cormorants working the basin and they didn’t catch either! So there you have it, the conundrum of the boat yards, one week they are there next week they’re gone, almost impossible to predict. Still keeps things interesting doesn’t it!! One last thing the match raised £81 for the East Anglian Air Ambulance so we can all feel good about that – Mr Harmer is off to Reepham for a bit of team therapy next week so at least he won’t be taking up one of the frame places for a change -the weather can only be better –  I might even get a decent draw! See you there……..
